Christine, a timid and anxious teenage girl, seeks a cure for her persistent zits, yet her worsening struggle with acne threatens to complicate an already deteriorating relationship with her mother.
The morning of our first day of shooting, I remember going to the gas station to grab last minute crafty snacks for our crew. The birds were chirping, the sun was rising over the beautiful North Carolina mountains. And Jack McLain, director, and I, were terrified of the days to come. The car ride was total silence that morning as we both pondered what it would be like to run our first set.
What followed was two days nothing short of victory. It was the first time we ever ran a set, and it is, to this day, one of my favorite crew experiences I've ever been apart of. I found my love of fostering others' visions that day, the power and magnitude that being a producer carries with the title. I studied how beautiful a relationship could be between actors and their director, and began taking notes from the best on how to work with talent. And, most importantly, BLACKHEAD was a reminder that all drafts you'll go through, all the numbers you'll crunch in a budget, and all the stress and love you'll pour into your film will always pay off the first time you hear "Action!"
